The G7 ECZ Science 2023 paper is a useful revision resource for learners preparing for Zambia’s Grade 7 examinations. It gives pupils and teachers a practical way to review Integrated Science concepts, practise answering multiple-choice questions and spot topics that need more attention. Because it is a past paper, use it to understand the exam style and strengthen your knowledge—not as a prediction of questions in a future examination.

What was the G7 ECZ Science 2023 paper?

The paper was titled Integrated Science, Subject 4/1, for the 2023 Grade Seven Composite Examination. It contained 50 multiple-choice questions, with four options for each question and one correct answer. Candidates had 60 minutes to complete it. The paper’s instructions also specify using an HB pencil to shade answers on the answer sheet.

Integrated Science was scheduled for the second session on Monday, 30 October 2023, from 10:30 to 11:30. ECZ’s 2023 Grade 7 timetable confirms the date and duration.

What topics does the paper cover?

The questions draw on a broad range of ideas, connecting science lessons to health, the home, farming and the natural world. Examples in the paper include:

  • Human health and the body: digestion, blood, the heart, nutrition, diseases and drug use.
  • Plants and animals: vertebrates, insects and spiders, seed dispersal, photosynthesis and plant propagation.
  • Matter, energy and measurement: metals, air, electric circuits, heat, mass and measuring liquid volume.
  • Environment and agriculture: conserving water and electricity, composting, fertilisers and animal farming.
  • Simple machines and everyday technology: wedges, levers and communication methods.

These examples show why memorising definitions alone may not be enough. A question might ask learners to identify a process, match an object to its function or apply a familiar idea to a practical situation. The paper is best used alongside class notes and the approved syllabus, so revision covers the full course rather than only the topics that happen to appear in one exam.

How to use the past paper for revision

Start by attempting the G7 ECZ Science 2023 paper under timed conditions. Set aside one hour, gather a pencil and answer sheet, and work without checking notes. This helps learners experience the pace of the exam and notice whether they spend too long on any one question.

After completing the paper, mark the answers using a reliable marking guide if one is available. For every incorrect or uncertain answer, write down the underlying concept and revisit it in a textbook or with a teacher. For example, if a question about condensation is confusing, review how water changes state and find everyday examples, such as droplets forming on a cool surface.

Group mistakes by topic. A pattern of missed questions about the human body may signal a need to revise body systems, while errors across measurement questions may point to confusion about units and instruments. This turns a past paper into a focused study plan.

Revision tips for better results

Understand the idea behind each answer. If the correct option names a plant process or a machine, be able to explain what it does and recognise another example. Understanding makes it easier to answer questions presented in unfamiliar wording.

Practise eliminating wrong options. Read the whole question before choosing. Rule out answers that do not fit, then compare the remaining options carefully. Watch for words such as “best,” “not” or “most likely,” which can change what the question is asking.

Revise in short, regular sessions. Cover a few related ideas at a time, then test yourself from memory. A brief review of nutrition, followed by a self-quiz, can be more useful than rereading several chapters without checking what you remember.

Explain science in your own words. Describe why switching off an unused appliance saves electricity, or how a simple machine helps make work easier. If you can explain an idea clearly, you are more likely to recognise it in a multiple-choice question.

Exam-day approach

Read the instructions first and check that the question paper and answer sheet match. Move steadily through the questions, and do not let one difficult item consume too much time. If unsure, eliminate options and make your best choice, then return to the question if time allows.

Shade the selected answer clearly and keep the answer number aligned with the question number. If you change an answer, erase the first mark neatly before shading another option, as the paper’s instructions require. Save a few minutes at the end to check for skipped questions and misplaced answers.

Final thoughts

The G7 ECZ Science 2023 paper offers a practical way to review Integrated Science and build confidence with the examination format. Its value comes from careful practice: attempt the questions, review mistakes and strengthen the concepts behind them. Combine the paper with class notes and regular revision to build knowledge that lasts beyond one examination.
